OMAHA, Neb.—This morning at a press conference in Omaha, Democratic Congressional candidate Jim Esch endorsed Tony Raimondo in the Democratic U.S. Senate primary.
In his endorsement, Esch noted Raimondo’s 40 years of experience in business – creating jobs, balancing budgets in good times and bad, and growing Nebraska’s economy.
"Tony took over a business that was on the verge of collapse and turned it into a Nebraska success story," said Esch. "It certainly wasn’t easy, but like all Nebraskans, Tony rolled up his sleeves and kept working each day to make it happen."
Esch says Raimondo is the right kind of leader at the right time.
"In order to change the way Washington works, we need to send people who care less about their own ambitions and more about the people they represent," said Esch. "I’m confident that Tony is that kind of leader, someone who will bring people together and do what’s best for all Nebraskans."
Esch ran a tremendous grassroots campaign against Lee Terry in 2006, nearly defeating him. As a result of that effort, Esch remains popular among Democratic activists throughout Nebraska. Today, he seeks the Democratic nomination with a strong base of support as a candidate who can bring change to Washington and get our country back on track.
"I truly appreciate Jim’s support," said Raimondo. "I look forward to partnering with him as we continue our campaign to get America back on track and help relieve the squeeze on Nebraska’s working families."
